I have never been employed. Who can I request a reference to?
In this case, you can provide the contact details for a character reference if this has been allowed by your recruiter.
A character referee is someone who knows you on a personal level and can attest to your abilities, skills and character, such as a family friend, a teacher, tutor, coach. You can find more information about this here.
However it is still important that you consult with your prospective employer to understand what type of reference checks they will accept as they might have internal requirements you need to follow.
