Who is the source of criminal check data in the Israel? 
The criminal history check is performed through a local partner.

The research is done using public information sources (such as published judgments, company registers, etc).

The information acquired is the one of the Israeli Ministry of Justice and Judiciary, through subscription-based databases, such as LawData and Nevo. Those are publishers of publicly available court proceedings. The only free open source is Tolaat HaMishpat, also used by the partner.

 

What's the service covered on the check?
The process has nationwide coverage including citizens and foreigners of Israel over the age of 18. Records can date back to the 1960s; however, please note that most of the criminal history data extracts information since 1990.
The records are kept for 7 years, based on the legal prescription and rehabilitation periods applicable for each type of conviction provided by the local regulations of Israel.

What details are required to submit the check?
  • Candidate name
  • Date of birth
  • Candidate full legal Hebrew name
  • Government ID number (National Israeli ID number (9 digits)
  • Current or last registered address in Israel
  • Passport/ID copy

Restrictions/Exclusions

Please note that the partner is a research firm providing custom background reports and legal research on any Israeli natural or legal person. Following Criminal Information and Rehabilitation of Offenders Law 2019, “criminal information” is all information included in the Criminal Register and Police Register. Entities allowed to perform such a check include, but are not limited to, security bodies, government institutions and ministries, airlines, the Bank of Israel, etc, but the partner is not one of them.

As such, the partner provides only publicly accessible judgment information, as listed above, from publicly available sources, but not any type of “criminal information” from the Criminal Register or the Police Register of Israel, nor is the partner requesting any information regarding the criminal past of any individual, directly or indirectly from said registers.
