When you submit a reference request, we will immediately contact your referee and will contact them up to five times. After this contact period, if the referee has not provided a reference yet, we will let you know with an email notification.
Here's some steps you should take when a referee doesn't reply:
Step One:
- First contact your referee directly to remind them and ask them to search their inbox for an email from us. It may have gone in their junk/spam folder so have them look around first to see if they received it.
Step Two:
- If they still have not gotten it, check to see if the email address you provided into Zinc for your referee is correct. If it's not correct, you can remove and add the referee with the correct details.
Step Three:
- After confirming the email address is correct and no messages have been received, you can contact our Customer Support team to ask them to send a reference request email to your referee.
Step Four:
- If your referee is not responding to your messages and didn't provide a reference, provide an alternative referee for that organisation.
- You can remove this referee and add a new referee by following the guidance here
