UK Citizens
UK Citizens can prove their right to work through any of the following documents:
- Valid British/Irish passport
- Expired British/Irish passport
- British birth certificate and proof of National Insurance
- British certificate of registration or naturalisation and proof of National Insurance
When submitted to Zinc, the result can either come back as a Clear result or a Consider result
Clear Result
A valid (in-date) British passport will produce a clear result on Zinc. This means your passport was successfully processed with Zinc and the results of the check are provided on your profile. There is no further action you need to do.
Consider Result
An expired British/Irish passport or a British birth certificate/certificate of registration or naturalisation and proof of National Insurance will produce a consider result on Zinc. This is flagged to your employer for review as they will need to complete the check manually.
This does not mean your legal right to work in the UK is not confirmed. It simply means your employer needs to take a few extra steps to manually complete the check, in line with government requirements.
Please make a time with your employer directly to have these documents reviewed in person to complete the right to work check. You do not need to resubmit this unless required.
Non-UK Citizens
Non-UK Citizens can prove their right to work through any of the following documents:
- Share Code
- Immigration Documents
When submitted to Zinc, the result can either come back as a Clear result or a Consider result
Clear Result
A share code with no restrictions, expiry dates, and conditions will produce a clear result unless specified directly by your employer on the Zinc system to flag for these.
Consider Result
A share code with an expiration date, restrictions, or conditions submitted to Zinc will provide a consider result. This is flagged to your employer for review as they will need to complete the check further.
This does not mean your legal right to work in the UK is not confirmed. It simply means your employer needs to take a few extra steps to complete the check on their side, in line with government requirements.
If you provide immigration documents to Zinc, this will also produce a consider result. This is flagged to your employer for review as they will need to complete the check further. You may need to make a time with your employer directly to have these documents reviewed to complete the right to work check. You do not need to resubmit this unless required.
