When you receive a date-mismatch email from your reference check, the most important thing to do is not to panic. As a first step, you should click on the “View date mismatch” button within the email to understand what has happened.
If You Entered Incorrect Dates:
Sometimes, we just accidentally type in the wrong dates! If you realise you made a mistake and your referee's dates are actually correct:
- Email your recruiter right away! Let them know you made a small error when you first entered the dates. This helps them understand the situation.
Your recruiter will decide if it's okay. They'll review the reference and let you know if it meets the company's requirements.
⚠️ Please note that we can't change the reference for you. For security reasons, we're not able to edit the reference once it's submitted, even if it was a simple mistake on your end.
Only your new employer can request a fix. If your new employer asks us directly, we can then correct the mismatch on your profile.
If Your Referee Entered Incorrect Dates:
If you think that your referee has submitted the incorrect date in the reference check, please double-check your payslips. This will help you confirm if there's an error.
Once confirmed:
- Contact your referee and ask if they can submit a new reference
- Inform your recruiter! Let them know what is happening
- Submit a new reference! You will need to delete the old reference and add a new request to your referee. If you need help doing this, click here for more information
