Who is the source of criminal check data in Hungary ?

What is the process in Hungary ?
The requesting party will request the check from the ATS or their Zinc account.
- Automated instructions are delivered to provide some personal details, a copy of their ID and an Application Form in a dynamic web form
- Zinc submits the request to the authorities
- Zinc receives the results (digitally) and provides a signed digital report
- The candidate receives a text to say the process is complete.
What details are required from the candidate to submit the check?
- First Name
- Last Name
- Birth Date
- Specific Consent Form
- Passport/ID Copy*
- Consent
*For Citizens - Hungarian ID copy both sides (Szemelyi Azonosito: Recommended!) or Hungarian Passport (an expired copy is acceptable).
For Non-Citizens: Passport copy or EU ID card both sides (an expired copy is acceptable)/Valid Hungarian Residence Permit.
What is covered in the criminal check?
This criminal certificate check has nationwide coverage and covers citizens and foreigners over
18 years of age.
It contains information for all of the following criminal convictions of offenses, except those
deleted by rehabilitation laws or considered spent:
- Offenses against the person (sexual offenses, burglary, robbery).
- Fraud and forgery.
- Offenses against property: theft and handling stolen goods; criminal damage: “rongálás”.
- Crimes against the state.
- Crime against humanity.
- Crimes against the administration and public justice.
- Crime against law and order.
- Military crime.
- Economic crimes.
- Drug offenses.
- Motoring offenses.
- Intentional crimes.
- Offenses against children and family (e.g. pornography; sexual abuse; etc)
Under guidance issued by the Central Office for Administrative and Public Services, convictions
have a variable expiry period of three to 15 years, depending on the gravity of the crime
committed and the sentence pronounced. Less punishable offenses have an expiry period of
three years starting from the date of completion of the sentence expires.
Offenses that result in imprisonment have an expiry period of 15 years, starting from the end of the term of imprisonment. In both cases, details of criminal convictions are no longer disclosable after the
end of the expiry period.
The certificate does not contain details of convictions but shows whether the individual is restricted from a particular profession. Convictions remain on record for 3–15 years from the end of the expiry period depending on the offense and the penalty.
