If yes, you can present this document only as proof of your right to work. Your passport can be current or expired.

*Please note that the same does not apply to British National (Overseas) passports.

Do you have a UK birth certificate?

• You can share a copy of your birth certificate and proof of your national insurance number.

• You can share a certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen.
• And proof of NI number must be a official letter or document from a government agency (for example HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, or the Social Security Agency in Northern Ireland) or previous employer, showing their name and National Insurance number.
